The Artist and the Man
Ronald Dykes was an American contemporary artist whose work reflected a lifetime of exploration, creativity, and an enduring fascination with the world around him.
Born in Sacramento, California, in 1946, Ron earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Connecticut. Although his professional life took him in many directions, art remained a constant passion.
A United States Navy veteran, entrepreneur, inventor, world traveler, and scuba diver, Ron approached life with extraordinary curiosity. His travels took him from the Great Barrier Reef and the Maldives to the landscapes of Africa and beyond. Along the way, he visited galleries and museums, drawing inspiration from the cultures and landscapes he encountered.
An Artistic Voice
Ron's contemporary paintings ranged from expressive abstractions to representational works. His art reflected his appreciation for color, movement, imagination, and the natural world.
As the founder of Diamatrix, an ophthalmic surgical instrument company, Ron held multiple patents and spent much of his professional career developing innovative surgical instruments. His inventive nature carried naturally into his painting, where creativity and experimentation were always encouraged.

Ron's work was exhibited at the Louis DeAngelo Gallery in Baton Rouge, Gallery 1724 in Houston, Mossrock Studio and Fine Arts Gallery in The Woodlands, the Market Street Art Show, The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, and the Jung Center of Houston.

A Lasting Legacy
